November 22nd is Thanksgiving Day and the Sun Enters Sagittarius. It is also the 38th anniversary of the assassination of JFK. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln appointed a
national day of thanksgiving. Since then, each president has issued a
Thanksgiving Day proclamation, usually designating the fourth Thursday
of each November as the holiday. Jupiter rules Sagittarius so this is the time of
year for prosperity rituals. An old rhyme declares “Burning a bayberry
candle down to its socket puts food in the larder and gold in the
pocket.” Here are some more money traditions:
If you find money, spend it or give it away quickly and tell no
one where it came from. If you find or drop a coin, always step on it
before you pick it up. This insures that more will come to you. Fold
your bills toward you rather than away from you. November 30th is a Full Moon. The
Moon and Sun are opposite each other in the sky. The Moon reflects all
of the Sun's light. This is the time to perform rituals for protection,
clarity of vision and consecration. No party on Dec 7th. Instead,
we'll be hosting our get together on Saturday, December 15th, starting
at 6 PM. Please RSVP via e-mail to
Inga
or give her a call at 206-459-6963. Come and see what we've done to our
bedroom as part of our continuing feng shui house project!! December 10th – 17th is Hanukkah,
which means "dedication". It commemorates the victory of the
Maccabees (led by Judah) over the Hellenistic Syrians in a revolt that
took place around 165 BCE
(note: Jews use BCE--Before the Common Era and CE--the Common Era
instead of BC and AD). Once the
Temple Mount in Jerusalem had been reclaimed, the Temple had to be
rededicated. According to legend, only one jar of sacramental oil was
found, enough for one day. Miraculously, the oil burned for eight days,
thus the eight days of Hanukkah. December 14th is a New Moon and a Solar Eclipse.
The Moon and Sun are conjunct in the sky. The moon is dark and gradually
increases to a crescent. This is the time to begin a ritual involving a
new project, to ask for new vision. December 21st is Yule, the Winter Solstice and the Sun enters into Capricorn. |

Yes, Inga needed a Fantasy Break last week! I
wasn’t expecting much from this tie-in to the computer game but this
story was a pleasant surprise. I saw it as a philosophical exploration
of manifest destiny vs. stewardship that we all need to think about
these days. It is well written and the characters are compelling. I
found myself looking at things differently as if everything in my
environment was a possible clue to a puzzle I hadn’t found yet. I love
this perceptual change, which is why I play these games in the first
place. This begins the saga and acts as prequel to the
PC/MAC game Myst. We meet our protagonist when he is a child being
raised by his grandmother, Anna. She teaches him to observe the world
around him and to become sensitive to the underlying structures or
causes of things and events. They live in a desert at the edge of an old
volcano and his scientific skills are put to use in making the poor soil
more productive. Anna tells stories of an ancient civilization called
D’ni, which Atrus accepts as myth until his father, Gehn, shows up and
states his intention to take Atrus to D’ni to assist him in his work.
Atrus learns that his father is obsessed with the restoration of the
D’ni culture especially their art or technology of writing worlds in
special books. What attracts Gehn is the creating of hundreds of worlds all subservient to him alone. What repels Atrus is his father’s shoddy writing habits that are concerned only with the quantity, rather than the quality or sustainability of the worlds or “Ages” as they are termed. Atrus wrestles with the existential concepts of: Are we creating new worlds or are we linking to worlds that already exist thereby permanently altering them? This is when the politics, romance and intrigue begin. The book ends with the very lines that begin MYST: the game. -- Inga Duncan Thornell >^..^< Scott needed a fantasy break, too! I've never played the Myst game so I was going in cold but the book stands on its own as an excellent fantasy novel. I like how the book explores the challenges and dangers of the power of creation. If done with humility, integrity, creativity and love, miraculous worlds can be created. With human will alone, creativity and stability are severely limited and the issues of ego, pride and madness become the foundational issues. I also found the dichotomy between the wisdom of the crone, Atrus' elderly grandmother, and his father, Gehn, very instructional and enlightening. Anna represents Water and Earth energies while Gehn represents Fire and Air. Without alignment, both are very limited in what they can create but Gehn, without that female Water and Earth, is ultimately destructive on a global scale. -- Scott Bruce Duncan */:-) Click here to learn more about purchasing this book from Amazon.com.

be true is true or becomes true, within certain limits to be found
experientially and experimentally. These limits are further beliefs to
be transcended. In the mind, there are no limits" ----------------------------------------- A young woman was pulled over for speeding, on a
VFR, of course. As the motorcycle officer walked over to her bike,
flipping open his ticket book, she said, "I bet you are going to sell me
a ticket to the Highway Patrolmen's Ball." He replied, "Highway
patrolmen don't have balls." There was a moment of silence while she
smiled, and he realized what he'd just said. He then closed his book,
got back on his motorcycle and left. She was laughing too hard to put
her helmet on for several minutes. ----------------------------------------- You've all heard of the Air Force's ultra-high-security, super-secret base in Nevada, known simply as "Area 51?" Well, late one afternoon, the Air Force folks out
at Area 51 were very surprised to see a Cessna landing at their "secret"
base. They immediately impounded the aircraft and hauled the pilot into
an interrogation room. The pilot's story was that he took off from Vegas,
got lost, and spotted the Base just as he was about to run out of fuel.
The Air Force started a full FBI background check on the pilot and held
him overnight during the investigation. By the next day, they were finally convinced that
the pilot really was lost and wasn't a spy. They gassed up his airplane,
gave him a terrifying "you-did-not-see-a-base" briefing, complete with
threats of spending the rest of his life in prison, told him Vegas was
that-a-way on such-and-such a heading, and sent him on his way. The next day, to the total disbelief of the Air Force, the same Cessna showed up again. Once again, the MP's surrounded the plane... only this time there were two people in the plane. The same pilot jumped out and said, "Do anything you want to me, but my wife is in the plane and you have to tell her where I was last night!"
Many hundreds of years ago, (long before Christianity was even established), amongst the magical green hills of the modern day United Kingdom of Great Britain, thrived the roots of a religion known of today as Wicca. Also known as “The Old Ways”, this belief system was a Pagan tradition that consisted of acknowledgement of the seasons, sun and moon, nature, and magic. Luckily, this whimsical, beautiful, and mysterious tradition still lives on today. However, through out so many years, it has unfortunately been given many false and perverted stereotypes, and is viewed by the Christian church as a direct link to “the devil”. This is simply not true. Despite popular belief, Wicca and many other Neo-Pagan belief systems are not “Satanic”; they do not worship “the devil” or “Satan”. Many people have recently begun to follow Wicca, because it offers an accepting, loving alternative to other mainstream religions. Wicca is a simple and beautiful religion. Although “Wicca” is the most common name used, there are other names. A few of these are: “The Old Ways”, “The Old Folk Ways”, “Witta”, “Wicce”, “Witte”, and sometimes “Witchcraft”. Unlike Christianity and a few other religions, Wicca does not have a male god as the primary god being worshipped. Instead, Wicca has a god and a goddess, and the Goddess actually seems to have a little more significance. This is probably due to the fact that women give birth, and carry-on such a large workload caring for children. The Goddess is represented by many things. “The Mother Earth” is a reference to the Goddess that has been around for quite some time. However, the Goddess is primarily associated with night and the moon, and its phases. When the moon is waxing, the Goddess is said to be in her “maiden” state. When it is full, She is in her “mother” phase, and when the moon is waning, the Goddess is in her “crone” or “grandmother” state. Isn’t it ironic that many women give birth during the full moon? The god of Wicca is referred to as “the horned Green Man of the forest”. This could be where the depiction of the Christian “devil” came from. The God is traditionally half man and half deer, and so is depicted with antlers like those of a deer, and hooves of a deer, but a man’s face, hair, and arms. The depiction of “the devil” in Christianity is probably a stereotypical perversion of this. The God is also represented by many things, but primarily the Sun and day. The seasons are also important in Wicca. There are traditionally eight Wiccan holidays. A few of these are Yule (December 21, celebrates rebirth of the Sun), Samhain (October 31, celebrates remembrance of ancestors, and the mysteries of, and rebirth through death), Ostara (March 21, celebrates life and rebirth), and Beltane (April 30, celebrates fertility and life). Nature is obviously an important aspect of the Wiccan religion, as well as magic (“magick”) or “the ability to manipulate one’s environment through the use of tools, use of the Elements, prayer, meditation, divination, etc.” The Five Elements are: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, and these all combine to form the Fifth Element, Spirit. There is, naturally, a belief in a human soul, and an afterlife resting place called “Summerland”. Once a soul rests, it then reincarnates. Through out the years, Wicca has been unfortunately and falsely linked to “the devil”. Two major things that are used to try to link Wicca to the [Christian] “devil” are the misuse of the image of the Wiccan God, and the stereotyped pentagram. Wiccans use an upward-pointing star (usually drawn inside a circle to show protection) to represent the Five Elements. Satanists, or those who actually worship “Satan”/ “the devil”, use a downward-pointing star. Upward-pointing, the star represents Spirit ruling the Elements; downward pointing, the star shows elements ruling the spirit, which goes against Wiccan belief, and is deemed as evil. Wicca and Satanism are two completely different things. Wicca has no direct or indirect link to “Satan”. According to Christian belief, all religions other than Christianity are “Satanist”, or “of Satan”. This means that Wicca, Buddhism, Hindu, etc., are all “Satanist” religions. This is not true; only Satanism is Satanist. New-Age belief, especially Wicca, is becoming more and more popular each day. Over the past five to ten years, researchers have noticed a vast increase in the number of followers of Neo-Pagan religions, especially Wicca. Evidence of the rise of interest in The Old Ways is visible in recent books, movies, and television shows such as “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, “Charmed”, Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and the popular Harry Potter book series. One reason that Wicca has spread so much so fast recently, is because of the great communication capabilities we now have because of the Internet. There are thousands upon thousands of websites all about Wicca; its history, principles, traditions, and more. Many people follow Wicca because it is an accepting, loving, beautiful, and mysteriously magical alternative to the mainstream religions. Followers of Wicca give many reasons why they follow. Some Wiccans say that they were simply not being spiritually satisfied with a previous religion (if they had one), or that Wicca’s morals of love, light, and goodness are so simple and beautiful. Others state that they just feel “at home” with Wicca. I personally decided to follow Wicca, because I was completely bored with Christianity, and felt a more “magickal” spark inside me that needed to be fed. I didn’t and don’t agree completely with all of Christianity, and I didn’t want to follow Christianity in vain. I decided to follow something that I do agree with, feel good about, and that makes me happy. I was completely raised in Protestant Christianity. I went to church every Sunday, Sunday night, and Wednesday night until the age of sixteen. For reasons that I will not go in depth about, I have found that Christianity is not for me. If Christianity is for you, then I respect that totally; I simply ask that you respect the Wiccan religion for what it truly is, as well as the many people who sincerely follow it. Through much miscommunication and stereotypes, and through the large spread of Christianity through Pagan Europe long ago, Wicca, for so many years, has had a bad image. Hopefully now however, that will change. Misconceptions about Wicca have been regarded as true for so many years, that everyone [still] assumes that they are. The purpose of this essay is not to “convert” people or “win people over” to the Wiccan religion; unlike Christianity, conversion is not a factor in Wicca. The purpose rather is to inform people that there is another side to the story. Please don’t create stereotypes or set your own biases about anything until you know the entire truth of a matter. Wicca is a positive, loving, and beautiful religion that I am proud to follow. More Astrology from Robert Blaschke Islamic Fanaticism & the Neptune in Sagittarius

We've always wondered what would happen if we got the friends we've made through Inga's Earth Magic (IEM) into a room together. Why? Because every one of us has a unique gift to offer to the world. And if we get enough of us in one place at the same time, something magical is bound to occur.

The
Duncan Domain
If you have visited our website, you’ve seen the phase “personal and
planetary transformation” on our home page. Do you wonder what we mean
by that? I ponder it often as I look for ways to act upon it in my daily
life. To shed some light on it, let’s start with the definition of
transformation: From
Dictionary.com, it is defined as: To change in nature, disposition,
heart, character, or the like; to convert or metamorphose. We’re implying that in order to transform the world in which we live,
one must first undergo a personal transformation. Secondly, we are
stating that we humans and Earth have the potential to be transformed
into a more powerful and harmonious state. Assuming that you are as
dissatisfied as I am with war, corruption, famine, poverty, disease,
repression of personal freedoms, pollution, etc., we can build consensus
around the absolute need for such transformation. It is very easy to get sucked up into the many external issues that
we see in our families, neighborhoods, workplaces and in the media and
therefore, neglect our own personal transformation. I have to keep
reminding myself that I’ll play a far more powerful and effective role
in the healing and transformation of Earth as I heal and transform
myself first. Inga takes it a step further as she firmly believes that
as we heal and transform ourselves, our societies and the planet itself
will automatically reflect that transformation. Assuming that we can agree that we could all use some transformation,
that raises the question of into what and how. At this point in time, I
imagine or visualize myself as a human being that can bring the Earthly,
Astral and Spirit realms into alignment within my body. That alignment
creates a space that transcends human and physical laws and allows a
much richer and more powerful expression of our creativity, firmly
grounded in Divine Love, instead of human will alone. As I practice that alignment of my body, mind and spirit and
experience the resulting changes in myself, I witness subtle
corresponding changes in those that I interact with on a daily basis:
co-workers, friends, associates, strangers, animals, plants, unseen
entities and Inga. When my state of alignment progresses to a point and
levels out, I’ve learned to recognize that I’ve reached an internal
block to greater alignment. And that’s where the hard work comes in. It
means turning away from the external and looking within for the block.
It means being so committed to the cause of personal and planetary
transformation, that I’ll quiet myself and journey within in order to
locate and face the fear causing the blockage, no matter how painful,
and then heal it with love. As you’ve read in this newsletter, I’ve
found blockages buried in my childhood and I’ve found them in past
lives. I had Inga guide me in hypnotherapy last night to find such a
blockage and I found myself being led back to when I was 14 years old.
Before me stood a very troubled young man, completely lost as to what
his purpose in life was and on the edge of despair. I could also see all
that I had done over the years to clear away that confusion and darkness
to find the Light that I live in now. Inga suggested that I think of
some way to show this troubled teenager that everything would be okay so
I simply reached out and gave him a big hug! As I did, it felt like this
part of my identity, as represented by this young man, was left stranded
so many years ago when my not knowing how to effectively deal with such
uncertainty caused intense fear that splintered my personality. In other
words, I experienced de-alignment. By revisiting the past and using love
to heal this rift, I reintegrated this teenage boy back into my identity
and together, we resolved the issues that caused him to become separated
and stranded. The most amazing part was to watch my history, as a result
of this healing, become altered, or rewritten, all the way up to the
present. So somewhere, in some other reality, life has turned out very
different for me. In this reality, the blockage that is preventing
further progress in my personal transformation is removed. So the
healing has taken place on many levels and affected many others. As I said, these blockages can be found in this lifetime and prior
ones. Here’s an entry from my journal, dated February 17, 2001, that
describes such a past lifetime healing: Inga guides me in achieving a non-ordinary state of consciousness.
She then directs me to a meadow. I find myself transported to a place
called Windy Gap in Mt. Rainier National Park. I can feel the grass
beneath my bare feet and above me is a blue sky with puffy white clouds.
I see a mountain goat on the cliff before me. White Elk, my spiritual
advisor and old friend from a past lifetime, is standing next to me. I turn to my left and I see a 30 foot high Malachite obelisk
protruding from the Earth energy portal of this place. We move toward it
and when we reach it, I place my hands upon the obelisk’s surface. My
arms sink into it past my elbows. I move completely within the stone and
for a moment, I just float in the stone’s energy field. I feel relaxed
and grounded. Inga instructs me to see the chamber within and I find
myself in it. I see arched doorways and two flat sections of walls
containing live images, like television. Inga asks what I see but the
images are blurred. I reach out and as I touch one of them, I’m pulled
into it. I’m standing on a vast prairie with gently rolling hills. A few
buffaloes are grazing nearby. I ask where I am and then I instantly know
that it is Nebraska in the 1800s. I see an abandoned sod house before
me. I know this place. It is where Native Americans ambushed a party
that I was leading in 1872. I enter the sod house and it’s dark and
dusty. I see a cot against the south wall and I know I’ve slept there. I
see a simple table with chairs and there is a lantern on it. I ask why
I’ve come back here and then I see the ghosts of four white men outside
who where killed in that ambush and have been stuck here since then. I
walk outside to greet them and hug them like old friends. As we do so, a
tunnel of white light appears to my right and I can feel friends and
family of these men coming to take them home. I then become aware of a Native American man approaching me. I’m
surprised at first because it has been my experience that Native
American death rituals are very effective in conveying souls to the
Light. But then I sense that his anger kept him trapped here after his
death during the ambush. We stand face to face and I realize that I know
him. He cursed me as he died and as a result, he has haunted me
constantly across several lifetimes until I broke his curse in this
lifetime. To make a long story short, it was my unconditional love for
animals that broke it and showed him that I was not to blame for the
situation. We were all angry and scared at the time. We embrace each other and I see his people coming for him from the
Light. As the last party enters the Light, the tunnel closes, leaving
just White Elk, the buffaloes and me. He says it is time to let this
place and incident go as we all have closure now. I agree and we are
transported back to the malachite chamber. I turn to the other wall image and I touch it. I find myself sitting
around a campfire with White Elk and two other Native Americans, a man
and a woman. I recognize myself as Lt. Colonel Benjamin S. Roberts of
the US Army and I’m in the West working on establishing forts along the
Oregon Trail. I have come to know these people through my efforts to
better understand the Native Americans and to search for ways for our
vastly different cultures to build alignment that will lead to
harmonious coexistence. But I have returned to re-experience the finale of that effort. All
four of us are filled with despair. I am leaving soon to go back east to
take part in the Civil War. I do not want to go as I feel it is
senseless but the Army is my life and my identity so I will obey my
orders. The four of us know that this is the end of the opportunity we
had to explore a merging of the European and Native American cultures.
We also know that things will never be the same after the war as the
frequency of fear and anger will be too great to overcome. I somehow
realize that I will never see these three people again after the war and
it greatly saddens me. The fog of that sadness is lifted as I find myself with White Elk back in the malachite chamber. He tells me that the time has come again to attempt the merger of the Cross and the Spiral. He shows me the energies of these symbols and how they represent the European culture of science and logic and the Native American culture of Shamanism. I see how this is a representation of the cultural transformation that will come from those that have embarked on their own personal transformations and have joined with others to co-create within that sacred space of aligned body, mind and spirit. White Elk smiles and says to watch for the team to reassemble. Inga instructs me to absorb that Malachite energy to assist me in my transformation and then brings me back to normal consciousness. – Scott Bruce Duncan*/:-) |
