Little Bighorn Battlefield Tour 2000
Day 7 - Are these people in here the locals?
Craters of the Moon, ID to Pendleton, OR - 409 miles
We woke up to another splendid day and after packing up, we drove further out into the Craters of the Moon monument and did a short walk around. The lava landscape is truly bizarre and surreal.
The night before we finalized our plans for the rest of the trip. We had options of going home back through Oregon by way of Crater Lake or other great Oregon roads or sidetripping down into Nevada so Vince could do some gambling and get a woman or two. But we finally decided to start making tracks for home and treat Lenny to a trip to Windy Ridge in the Mt. St. Helens National Park. So we got down to business and took Hwy. 20 across Idaho until we picked up Superslab 84.
Yet another Super Hawk pitstop! We hopped from gas station to gas station, hour after hour, and found that the best superslab around exists on I-84 in Oregon. It has enough hills and high speed sweepers to keep it really interesting.
